Muliple upload with ( Lasso + jQuery + Uploadify )

Uploadify is an excellent jQuery plugin that handles multiple file uploads for you. I really recommend this plugin, it has a lot of useful options (among them file types or file size restrictions).
I wrote a minimal lasso upload script which you can extend to handle, for example, the rewriting of file names.
I also added another ajax window on the right, which show the content of the upload folder, so you can use this to provide your user a personal folder.
I added some classes to do this in the uploadify CSS file.
Files icons are displayed depending on the file extension (CSS selector), so you can add your own icons.
The files can be deleted using the same ajax file that is used for the listing (filelist.lasso in the ajax folder). A javascript standard alert asks for confirmation before deleting the file.
The files are all packed in this zip file which contains :
- index.lasso contains the form and the uploadify call
- filelist.lasso is only called via ajax (lists and/or delete files)
- modified uploadify package CSS file
- jQuery 1.2.6, but you can also use 1.3.x
- Uploadify v2.10 javascript and flash files (but you can download them directly)
The lasso files are using the client_param and client_params tag from Jason Huck, instead of action/post params.
Here is a quick-n-dirty video to show what it does (sound is in french...).
Tips for a quick installation :
- Drop the folder in your web root then check http://localhost/uploadify_lasso/
- Change the group owner on the "test" folder to "staff" to give Lasso write access on it
- Use some good credentials : either your Lasso site or server password, or a custom user with upload rights. Get back to Steve Piercy permissions guide if anything goes wrong.
- It should work now!
- When implementing it, change all the paths to fit your solution... (all of them!)
What is left to be done :
- A better error reporting from flash_upload to the jQuery script to make it easier to debug the unavoidable file permissions errors... I couldn't manage to pass the error message from Lasso via the plugin 'onError' function.
